GROWTH RESPONSE OF Heritiera simplicifolia (Mast.) Kosterm. AND Scaphium macropodum (Miq.) Beumée ex Heyne DUE TO ABIOTIC FACTORS IN THE NURSERY

In the earliest stage of development, non-dipterocarp wildlings require specific environmental conditions; they are only able to acclimate harsher conditions after this stage. As such, environment acts as a limiting factor early-stage development in shade-tolerant species. We examined survival rates and growth Heritiera simplicifolia Scaphium macropodum from family Malvaceae different sets abiotic conditions. Three factors medium type, greenhouse technique, light intensity were varied. The experiment was conducted for six months an area near Hulu Terengganu Hydroelectric Dam, at edge Tembat Forest Reserve. Height, diameter, leaves numbers, leaf recorded. Our results indicate that preferred higher daytime relative humidity natural air ventilation night, grew more quickly under SN50 (358.74 Photosynthetically Active Radiation; PAR) than SN70 (101.41 PAR). Subsoil supplemented with vermicompost improved willing consistently subsoil compost or burned mesocarp. wildling’s height rate (HRGR) affected by all treatments. These restoration efforts using young indigenous tree species degraded sites, supply better environments organic nutrients rhizosphere.
